The brutality that is SLAYER

By Ryan | June 27, 2008

Continuing with the music theme today, but not at all competing with Steven and Stephen: FISTS (because that is the clear winner today!!), I’ve decided to share my thoughts on this specific video of hardcore metal kings, Slayer, performing their “hit”, Angel of Death, in front of 70,000 strong at the Download Festival from 2005. Yes, it’s a few years old, and Slayer played the Euro-Summer Festival circuit in 2006 and last year as well, and there’s video of them playing this very song from those Festivals as well, but this particular one I’ve chosen most aptly showcases Dave Lombardo, drumlord of all - wait for the insanity he shows off at the 4:30 mark.

You don’t have to like this “genre” of music to marvel at the fact that these guys, in their early-to-mid 40s, can still rip it up on stage after playing this music 20 years later.

Well, they’re not Nickelback, but they’re almost as good!
